Wellstar Farm

WellFarm, a vertical hydroponic farm at Wellstar’s headquarters, is the hospital group’s latest effort to improve their community through sustainability. The farm is housed in a 40-foot upcycled shipping container and has the capacity to produce over 200 pounds of produce each week. They launched an event in Fall 2024 for their team members and leaders to see the new Catalyst by Wellstar initiative, meet the WellFarmer Patrick John and sample some food with fresh ingredients from the hydroponic farm. CommonSpirit

In late 2025, CommonSpirit donated its container farm to the National Western Center in Denver, and the farm is run by nonprofit Focus Points Family Resource Center. The NWC is adjacent to the Globeville-Swansea-Elyria area, an underserved part of Denver that struggles with access to healthy food. The produce grown in this container farm will be donated or sold in that community at a heavily discounted price, and the farm will be run by young adults as part of a workforce development program.
