Beats Per Minute

Beats Per Minute is based in Leavenworth, Kan., and comprises a group of diverse disabled veterans. Using their years of farming knowhow and military backbone, they grow the tastiest, best looking and most aromatic basil in the Kansas City market today. Their crops are grown indoors all year long in tightly sealed control rooms using less water, energy and monitored daily for quality control and flavor. All of their basil is hydroponically grown without the use of herbicides and pesticides and delivered as a living plant from their farm direct to grocery stores weekly. Their beautiful variety of leafy basil can be bought at all local Balls Foods Store locations across Kansas City, to include Price Chopper, Hen House, Payless Foods and Sun Fresh.

MegaMart

FarmBox Foods has spent recent years developing relationships and establishing proof of concept with MegaMart, one of the largest grocery chains in Jamaica, and Natural Grocers, a Colorado-based health food chain that specializes in organic goods. Both companies are reaping the benefits of growing produce in a FarmBox Foods container farm just steps away from the in-store display case. They eliminate costs and logistical difficulties associated with shipping the food from elsewhere, and the food retains its entire shelf life and nutritional value because it’s grown in the community where it’s consumed.

MegaMart received its first farm in mid-summer 2021 and is growing leafy greens and herbs outside its store in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The chain has expressed interest in replicating the program on a number of Caribbean islands, as shipping goods to island nations has become increasingly cost-prohibitive.
